This guideline advises how to handle donations and charity requests less than USD $5,000. Requests greater than USD $5,000 will be handeled by the Corporate Contributions Committee.
The guidelines presented below are based on the Company's Philanthropy Policy and Grant Guidelines modified for Norwegian conditions.

In lieu of Christmas presents and cards to staff and business partners, Marathon Oil Norge will support a charitable organisation in December of each year. In November the staff will be asked to nominate candidates. We will then have a vote and the charity that gets the most votes will receive the donation.
Once a year the employees can apply for funding for the committee's evaluation. All approved applicants will receive an amount of maximum NOK 3000. The application should state information about the organization, a specific purpose and amount of the request. Organisations or teams receiving a contribution will be ineligible for any further funding within the year the grant was provided. If the number of applicants exceeds the budget, the allocation will be decided by drawing, and applicants that received support last year will not be given priority.
This will be split between student activities and direct support to education or education-linked events.
